Fire Department Permit Information

The Rollinsford Fire Department issues and processes a variety of permits, inspections, and report requests. Please review the information below for requirements, fees, and application details.

For questions or assistance, please contact the Rollinsford Fire Department.

Open Burning Permit

A burn permit is required for open burning in accordance with the New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands.

In most cases, permits are issued by the local Fire Department. Permits for larger brush fires may require approval from both a State Forest Fire Warden and the local Fire Department.

Small brush or garden preparation fires generally may not be started until after 5:00 p.m. and must be extinguished by the following morning. Daytime burning may be permitted during suitable rainy conditions.

Burn permits may only be issued to the property owner unless the owner provides written authorization for another individual to obtain the permit.

Several types of burn permits are available depending on the size of the fire, the material being burned, and the length of time the permit is needed.

Applicants should review current requirements from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal or consult a New Hampshire-licensed fireworks vendor to determine which fireworks may legally be used.
